How this Specialized bike size chart tool works

The tool matches your height against the rider-height bands Specialized publishes per model family. Enter your height, choose a family, and the result names your likely chart size — or honestly reports that you overlap two sizes, which on a Specialized bike size chart is a real decision, not an error.

Every band on this page was compiled by hand from the official Specialized size guide and corroborating retailer charts, and the result card always shows which family, which chart version and when it was last verified. A Specialized bike size chart changes with model years; a sizing page that hides its sources cannot be trusted with your money. When in doubt, trust the tool's dates over any forum post quoting an older Specialized bike size chart.

Specialized bike size chart: road families

Specialized road families share one Specialized bike size chart structure: seat-tube labels in centimeters, with rider-height bands stepping every few centimeters. The differences between families are at the edges — which sizes exist at the top and bottom — and in geometry the labels do not show.

Tarmac sizes on the Specialized bike size chart

The Tarmac (SL8 and SL9) runs seven sizes, 44 to 61, sized by seat tube in centimeters. The 44 is Tarmac-specific for smaller riders; from 49 upward, each size steps roughly 3 cm. Taller riders over 185 cm land on the 61. If your height sits at a band edge, the smaller Tarmac gives a racier position, the larger more stack for comfort.

Roubaix and Allez sizes

The Roubaix adds a 64 at the top and keeps the 44 at the bottom, making it the widest Specialized bike size chart among the road families. The Allez and Allez Sprint chart runs 49 to 61 — but note the Sprint's geometry sits taller and longer than a Tarmac, so many Tarmac riders choose one size smaller on the Allez Sprint.

What the numbers mean

Road sizes are seat-tube centimeters, and like all modern sloping frames they under-describe the actual cockpit. Two Tarmac sizes can both fit a boundary rider; the Specialized bike size chart is the entry point, and the specific model's stack and reach — comparable with the geometry tool on this site — are the tiebreaker.

Stumpjumper S-Sizing

The Stumpjumper uses Specialized's S-Sizing: S1 through S4 in the core range, with S5 and S6 on recent model years for taller riders. S-Sizes are reach-based and deliberately overlapping — S2 runs 157–173 cm, S3 runs 165–180 cm — so a rider at 170 cm may legitimately choose either. Size down for a nimble bike, up for stability.

Rockhopper sizes

The Rockhopper hardtail uses conventional labels, XS through XXL, with straightforward height bands from 148 cm to 206 cm. It is the simplest Specialized bike size chart in the range: most riders land squarely in one band, with overlap only at the usual boundaries.

Between sizes on a Specialized bike size chart

Overlap is everywhere on a modern Specialized bike size chart, and the brand designs it that way. For road families, boundary riders choose by position preference: the smaller frame rides racier with more drop available, the larger sits taller and suits longer torso or comfort priorities. For Stumpjumper S-Sizes, the choice is character: agility versus stability.

Whichever way you lean, verify standover with your inseam and, ideally, compare the stack and reach of the two candidate sizes for the exact model year. Specialized publishes full geometry tables per model — the numbers there turn a Specialized bike size chart overlap from a coin-flip into a decision.

Sources, verification and honesty

This page is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Specialized. Height bands were compiled from the official Specialized size guide and corroborated against retailer charts on the date shown in the tool above; brand names belong to their owners. Model-year changes can shift a Specialized bike size chart by a band, so before purchasing, confirm your size on the official product page for the exact model and year — the result card links to it. Independent verification is the point: a Specialized bike size chart republished without a date is a rumor with numbers.
